          About Sansthan
» Who we are

In November 1997, a group of dedicated devotees met in a small community hall to discuss the possibility of building a Shirdi Sai temple in Sydney. For this purpose they envisioned forming a society to garner support for the cause and also decided to meet regularly for bhajans and exchanging experiences. Initially they used to meet in each others homes once a month. Then by Baba's grace a place was rented and the monthly bhajans became weekly events. The small group of devotees would often be disheartened at the small turnout in these Kirtans, but the only thing which sustained them was their faith in Baba.

Slowly the turnout at the Kirtans started to increase and in March 1999 the society was formally registered as a tax deductible Charitable foundation. The task before its founders is still uphill as they now proceed with trying to organize the establishment of a temple.

» Our Mission

Many will question the purpose of building this temple when there are many such Hindu temples and Baba is surely present in all of them. The answer is fairly simple. If there is one thing unique about Shirdi Sai Baba it is the freedom he bestows in his devotees to worship in any form and way. This temple will stand for that freedom, the succour to all devotees seeking respite from their worldly problems and materialism. Baba always said, "If you look to me I will look to you". In reality,it is not the Sansthan building the temple, it is Baba who has decided to grace Sydney. It is Baba who wants to provide his devotees a place where they can sing his praises to joy and where they can open their hearts out to him and experience his miracles.

» Where to from now

It has now been two years and we have been holding Satsang sessions every Sunday between 4:30 -6:00PM at the Australian Languages center (416-417 Liverpool road, Strathfield). The atmosphere in our little temporary temple is wonderful. As we offer a series of heart rendering devotional songs (compiled painstakingly by our Sansthan). Each of our bhajans is a prayer in itself and sometimes the lyrics move the heart and soul as they endeavour to heal and inspire us from within and become better human beings in society. In a sense, the meditation and atmosphere of love and goodwill helps us to recharge our batteries and focus on our day to day lives.
